Engineers need strong technical abilities and know-how, as well as creative problem-solving skills and plenty of imagination. With Sylvan's Engineering courses in Texas, now is the time for future engineers to develop these important skills — and have fun with new friends as they do so! Kids love to work out what makes toys, gadgets and devices tick, so our sessions are tailored to explore and examine real mechanical and architectural challenges. Working with a buddy, your child will build and test new structures every week, mastering 21st century STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering and math) as they go. After all, kids engage in learning a lot more when it happens to be fun and enjoyable too!
The Sylvan Experience
Learning becomes a personal and attentive experience at your local Sylvan in Texas, where classes have no more than 12 students and the maximum student-to-teacher ratio is 6:1. We combine our one-on-one approach with a tailored blend of self-guided and collaborative tasks, helping kids stay interested and motivated with diverse learning methods.
It's Time to Get Hands-On
Engaging with practical, hands-on engineering challenges is the most effective way to master the most important concepts. Using LEGO® and K'NEX®, our students conceive and build new machines and structures every week. And the learning doesn't end once building is finished: students also learn how to test their creations, entering them in friendly contests and redesigning them according to the new principles learned. In other words, we're here to support, engage and excite the young engineer, mechanic or architect in your life — so don't be surprised if bridges, race cars and other projects become the topic of conversation in your home!
Our Engineering courses in Texas focus on creativity, and also feature:
- Emphasis on STEM: As the modern world increasingly relies on people with strong STEM skill sets, it's never too early for your child to start developing 21st century competencies.
- Hands-on learning: Sylvan is no stranger to the very latest advances in interactive, app-based learning — but our Engineering courses are all about learning by doing.
- Collaboration: Students work together to enhance their ability to communicate with others and work as a team.
- Frequent updates: You'll learn about each session thanks to our weekly email updates, which include photos, summaries and a preview of the next project.
