Engineers need to be problem solvers with plenty of creativity and imagination. With Sylvan's Engineering courses in Texas, young engineers have a great opportunity to enhance these skills — and have fun while they do it! We know how kids love to tinker with toys, gadgets and other devices, so we focus our sessions around real mechanical and architectural challenges. Every week, your child will partner with a friend to build, test and redesign structures, mastering important STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering and math) along the way. After all, there's no reason why learning can't be fun and engaging!
The Sylvan Experience
With a maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 6:1 — and no more than 12 students per class — your local Sylvan center in Texas is where learning gets personal. We also combine that one-on-one attention with collaborative activities and self-guided tasks, helping kids stay engaged with a mix of proven learning methods.▼
Engaging Young Minds and Hands
There's simply no better way to master the fundamentals of engineering than by applying them to real-life tasks and challenges. That's why our students design and build LEGO® machines and K'NEX® structures each and every week. And it doesn't end with the building: students discover how to test their creations, redesign them using the principles they've learned, and take part in friendly competitions with classmates' constructions. In other words, we're here to support, engage and excite the young engineer, mechanic or architect in your life — so don't be surprised if bridges, race cars and other projects become the topic of conversation in your home!
Creativity is a defining feature of our Engineering courses in Texas, which also include:
- Hands-on sessions: Many of our programs are based around the latest interactive, app-based learning — but this is all about getting practical and learning by doing.
- STEM-first learning: The modern world needs people with modern skills, so there's no better time for your child to start building a skill set fit for the 21st century.
- Teamwork: Collaborative tasks help students learn how to work together and communicate more effectively.
- Email updates: We'll send you an email after each session with photos and summaries, as well as a preview of upcoming projects.
