Engineers need to be problem solvers with plenty of creativity and imagination. With Sylvan's Engineering courses in Pennsylvania, now is the time for future engineers to develop these important skills — and have fun with new friends as they do so! We know how kids dismantle toys, gadgets and other devices (and put them back together… hopefully!), so we design our sessions to explore real-world architectural and mechanical challenges. Every week, students buddy up with friends to build structures, test them, and rebuild them better, learning vital STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering and math) as part of the process. After all, learning doesn't feel like a frustration when it's a lot of fun at the same time!
Discover the Sylvan Difference
Learning becomes a personal and attentive experience at your local Sylvan center in Pennsylvania, where classes have no more than 12 students and the maximum student-to-teacher ratio is 6:1. We combine our one-on-one approach with a tailored blend of self-guided and collaborative tasks, helping kids stay interested and motivated with diverse learning methods.▼
Engaging with practical, hands-on engineering challenges is the most effective way to master the most important concepts. That's why we present our students with new LEGO® and K'NEX® building activities every week. And the building part is only the start: students learn how to test their creations, entering them in friendly contests against competing teams and implementing the new design principles they've mastered. In other words, you can expect us to guide and engage the aspiring architect, engineer or mechanic in your life — and you can also expect bridges, race cars and other exciting projects to dominate conversations in your home!
It's time to get creative! Our Engineering courses in Pennsylvania feature:
- Hands as well as minds: Interactive, app-based learning is great, but this program is all about getting hands-on — and learning by doing.
- Emphasis on STEM: The modern world demands modern skills, so now is the time for your child to develop vital 21st century competencies.
- Teamwork: Students work with buddies, learning how to collaborate and build strong personal communication skills.
- Regular updates: We'll email you after each session with photos, summaries and a sneak peek of next week's project.
