Engineering demands not only strong problem-solving abilities, but also lots of creativity and imagination. With engineering courses in Ohio from Sylvan, it's a great time for budding engineers to work on these skills — and have an unforgettably fun experience as they do so! We know how kids love to tinker with toys, gadgets and other devices, so we focus our sessions around real mechanical and architectural challenges. Every week, your child will partner with a friend to build, test and redesign structures, mastering important STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering and math) along the way. After all, it's so much easier to engage in learning if it happens to be great fun as well!
The Sylvan Experience
With no more than 12 students in each class and a maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 6:1, you can expect a personal and attentive learning experience at your local Sylvan center in Ohio. To that personal attention we add a mix of collaborative tasks and self-directed activities, helping to motivate and engage kids with a variety of proven learning techniques.▼
Let's Get Hands-On
There's simply no better way to master the fundamentals of engineering than by applying them to real-life tasks and challenges. That's why our weekly sessions are based around designing and building LEGO® machines and K'NEX® structures. And once these creations have been built, students test them, enter them in friendly contests and tweak their design to include the new ideas and principles they've learned. Very simply, our goal is to guide and motivate your budding engineer, mechanic or architect — so you shouldn't be surprised when race cars, bridges and other engaging projects become your son or daughter's preferred topic of conversation!
Our Engineering courses in Ohio focus on creativity, and also feature:
- Hands as well as minds: Interactive, app-based learning is great, but this program is all about getting hands-on — and learning by doing.
- Emphasis on STEM: The modern world demands modern skills, so now is the time for your child to develop vital 21st century competencies.
- Teamwork: Students work with buddies, learning how to collaborate and build strong personal communication skills.
- Regular updates: We'll email you after each session with photos, summaries and a sneak peek of next week's project.
