Engineers need strong technical abilities and know-how, as well as creative problem-solving skills and plenty of imagination. With Sylvan's Engineering courses in Ohio, now is the time for future engineers to develop these important skills — and have fun with new friends as they do so! We know how kids dismantle toys, gadgets and other devices (and put them back together… hopefully!), so we design our sessions to explore real-world architectural and mechanical challenges. Your child will work with a buddy to build and redesign different structures every week, getting to grips with crucial concepts in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) along the way. After all, kids find it a lot easier to engage with learning if they’re having fun at the same time!

The Sylvan Experience

With a maximum of 12 students per class — and a student-teacher ratio of 6:1 — learning is a personal experience at your local Sylvan in Ohio. We combine that personal attention with team activities and independent tasks, helping kids stay engaged and motivated with a diverse blend of learning methods.

Engaging Young Minds and Hands

There's no better way to learn engineering concepts than by applying them to real-life challenges. Using LEGO® and K'NEX®, our students conceive and build new machines and structures every week. And they don't only build them: they also test them, enter them into friendly competitions and redesign them using the new principles they've learned. In other words, you can expect us to guide and engage the aspiring architect, engineer or mechanic in your life — and you can also expect bridges, race cars and other exciting projects to dominate conversations in your home!

Our fun, creative Engineering courses in Ohio feature:

  • STEM-based learning: Now is the time for your child to start developing competencies that are increasingly important in the 21st century.
  • Hands as well as minds: We know when to integrate the latest app-based learning methods, but this program is all about getting hands-on.
  • Teamwork: Students work together to complete tasks and improve their personal communication skills.
  • Regular emails: We know you want to stay up to date with your child's progress, so we'll email you photos and summaries after each session — as well as a special look ahead to the next project.
