Successful engineers aren't just problem solvers: they have creativity and imagination. There's never been a better time for future engineers to develop these skills — and have a blast doing it — with Sylvan's Engineering courses in Louisiana. Kids love to figure out how toys, gadgets and other devices work, so our sessions are built around real-life mechanical and architectural challenges. Every week, students buddy up with friends to build structures, test them, and rebuild them better, learning vital STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering and math) as part of the process. After all, kids find it a lot easier to engage with learning if they’re having fun at the same time!

The Sylvan Experience

With a maximum of 12 students per class — and a student-teacher ratio of 6:1 — learning is a personal experience at your local Sylvan center in Louisiana. We combine that personal attention with team activities and independent tasks, helping kids stay engaged and motivated with a diverse blend of learning methods.

It's Time to Get Hands-On

Getting hands-on with real-world engineering challenges is the best way to master the fundamentals. That's why our students design and build LEGO® machines and K'NEX® structures each and every week. And they don't only build objects: they also learn how to test them, compete in friendly classroom competitions, and redesign their creations using all the principles they've mastered. In other words, we're here to support, engage and excite the young engineer, mechanic or architect in your life — so don't be surprised if bridges, race cars and other projects become the topic of conversation in your home!

Our fun, creative Engineering courses in Louisiana feature:

  • Hands as well as minds: Interactive, app-based learning is great, but this program is all about getting hands-on — and learning by doing.
  • Emphasis on STEM: The modern world demands modern skills, so now is the time for your child to develop vital 21st century competencies.
  • Teamwork: Students work with buddies, learning how to collaborate and build strong personal communication skills.
  • Regular updates: We'll email you after each session with photos, summaries and a sneak peek of next week's project.
