Engineers need to be problem solvers with plenty of creativity and imagination. With engineering courses in Florida from Sylvan, it's a great time for budding engineers to work on these skills — and have an unforgettably fun experience as they do so! We know how kids love to tinker with toys, gadgets and other devices, so we focus our sessions around real mechanical and architectural challenges. Every week, students buddy up with friends to build structures, test them, and rebuild them better, learning vital STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering and math) as part of the process. After all, kids find it a lot easier to engage with learning if they’re having fun at the same time!
What to Expect at Sylvan
With a maximum of 12 students per class — and a student-teacher ratio of 6:1 — learning is a personal experience at your local Sylvan in Florida. We combine that personal attention with team activities and independent tasks, helping kids stay engaged and motivated with a diverse blend of learning methods.
Getting Hands-On with Important Concepts
The most effective way to understand critical engineering concepts is to use them to overcome real-life challenges. That's why our weekly sessions are based around designing and building LEGO® machines and K'NEX® structures. And it doesn't end with the building: students discover how to test their creations, redesign them using the principles they've learned, and take part in friendly competitions with classmates' constructions. Very simply, our goal is to guide and motivate your budding engineer, mechanic or architect — so you shouldn't be surprised when race cars, bridges and other engaging projects become your son or daughter's preferred topic of conversation!
