It takes imagination, problem-solving and a great deal of creativity to be a successful engineer. With Sylvan's Engineering courses in California, there's never been a better time for budding engineers to enhance these skills — and have a blast doing it! Kids love to work out what makes toys, gadgets and devices tick, so our sessions are tailored to explore and examine real mechanical and architectural challenges. Each week, your child will buddy up with a friend to learn important STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering and math) by building, testing and redesigning various structures and objects. After all, it's so much easier to engage in learning if it happens to be great fun as well!
We're Here to Make a Real Difference
With no more than 12 students in each class and a maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 6:1, you can expect a personal and attentive learning experience at your local Sylvan center in California. To that personal attention we add a mix of collaborative tasks and self-directed activities, helping to motivate and engage kids with a variety of proven learning techniques.▼
Engaging with practical, hands-on engineering challenges is the most effective way to master the most important concepts. That's why our students are presented with new and exciting LEGO® and K'NEX® building activities each week. And once these creations have been built, students test them, enter them in friendly contests and tweak their design to include the new ideas and principles they've learned. In other words, you can expect us to guide and engage the aspiring architect, engineer or mechanic in your life — and you can also expect bridges, race cars and other exciting projects to dominate conversations in your home!
Creative learning starts here! Our Engineering courses in California feature:
- STEM-based learning: Now is the time for your child to start developing competencies that are increasingly important in the 21st century.
- Hands as well as minds: We know when to integrate the latest app-based learning methods, but this program is all about getting hands-on.
- Teamwork: Students work together to complete tasks and improve their personal communication skills.
- Regular emails: We know you want to stay up to date with your child's progress, so we'll email you photos and summaries after each session — as well as a special look ahead to the next project.
