Engineers need to be problem solvers with plenty of creativity and imagination. With Sylvan's Engineering courses in California, there's never been a better time for budding engineers to enhance these skills — and have a blast doing it! We know how kids dismantle toys, gadgets and other devices (and put them back together… hopefully!), so we design our sessions to explore real-world architectural and mechanical challenges. Every week, your child will partner with a friend to build, test and redesign structures, mastering important STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering and math) along the way. After all, it's so much easier to engage in learning if it happens to be great fun as well!
What to Expect at Sylvan
Learning becomes a personal and attentive experience at your local Sylvan center in California, where classes have no more than 12 students and the maximum student-to-teacher ratio is 6:1. We combine our one-on-one approach with a tailored blend of self-guided and collaborative tasks, helping kids stay interested and motivated with diverse learning methods.▼
We think there's no better way to understand engineering concepts and principles than by using them to solve real-life challenges. That's why we present our students with new LEGO® and K'NEX® building activities every week. And it doesn't end with the building: students discover how to test their creations, redesign them using the principles they've learned, and take part in friendly competitions with classmates' constructions. In other words, you can expect us to guide and engage the aspiring architect, engineer or mechanic in your life — and you can also expect bridges, race cars and other exciting projects to dominate conversations in your home!
Our fun, creative Engineering courses in California feature:
- Hands as well as minds: Interactive, app-based learning is great, but this program is all about getting hands-on — and learning by doing.
- Emphasis on STEM: The modern world demands modern skills, so now is the time for your child to develop vital 21st century competencies.
- Teamwork: Students work with buddies, learning how to collaborate and build strong personal communication skills.
- Regular updates: We'll email you after each session with photos, summaries and a sneak peek of next week's project.
