Successful engineers aren't just problem solvers: they have creativity and imagination. There's never been a better time for future engineers to develop these skills — and have a blast doing it — with Sylvan's Engineering courses in Arizona. Kids love to figure out how toys, gadgets and other devices work, so our sessions are built around real-life mechanical and architectural challenges. Your child will work with a buddy to build and redesign different structures every week, getting to grips with crucial concepts in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) along the way. After all, it's so much easier to engage in learning if it happens to be great fun as well!

We're Here to Make a Real Difference

With no more than 12 students in each class and a maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 6:1, you can expect a personal and attentive learning experience at your local Sylvan in Arizona. To that personal attention we add a mix of collaborative tasks and self-directed activities, helping to motivate and engage kids with a variety of proven learning techniques.

Let's Get Hands-On

Engaging with practical, hands-on engineering challenges is the most effective way to master the most important concepts. That's why our weekly sessions task students to design and build new and exciting LEGO® machines and K'NEX® structures. And it doesn't end with the building: students discover how to test their creations, redesign them using the principles they've learned, and take part in friendly competitions with classmates' constructions. In other words, you can count on us to engage, support and excite the budding engineer, architect or mechanic in your family — so expect race cars, bridges and other stimulating projects to become the main topic of conversation during your car rides together!

Creativity is a defining feature of our Engineering courses in Arizona, which also include:

  • Practical tasks: We understand how to deliver the very latest app-based learning, but this program is all about learning by doing.
  • STEM teaching: As STEM skills become increasingly important in the modern world, now is the time for your child to start developing strong 21st century competencies.
  • Teamwork: Buddying up to take on challenges, students learn how to work together and enhance their personal communication skills.
  • Weekly updates: We'll email you photos and summaries after each session, as well as a peek at next week's project.
