Successful engineers aren't just problem solvers: they have creativity and imagination. With Sylvan's Engineering courses in Alabama, now is the time for future engineers to develop these important skills — and have fun with new friends as they do so! We know how kids love to tinker with toys, gadgets and other devices, so we focus our sessions around real mechanical and architectural challenges. Each week, your child will buddy up with a friend to learn important STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering and math) by building, testing and redesigning various structures and objects. After all, kids engage in learning a lot more when it happens to be fun and enjoyable too!

We Make a Real Difference

With no more than 12 students in each class and a maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 6:1, you can expect a personal and attentive learning experience at your local Sylvan in Alabama. To that personal attention we add a mix of collaborative tasks and self-directed activities, helping to motivate and engage kids with a variety of proven learning techniques.

It's Time to Get Hands-On

There's no better way to learn engineering concepts than by applying them to real-life challenges. That's why our students are presented with new and exciting LEGO® and K'NEX® building activities each week. And the building part is only the start: students learn how to test their creations, entering them in friendly contests against competing teams and implementing the new design principles they've mastered. In other words, we're here to support, engage and excite the young engineer, mechanic or architect in your life — so don't be surprised if bridges, race cars and other projects become the topic of conversation in your home!
