Engineering demands not only strong problem-solving abilities, but also lots of creativity and imagination. Sylvan's Engineering courses in Manitoba give budding engineers the chance to build these types of skills — and have a whole lot of fun as they do! Kids love to figure out how toys, gadgets and other devices work, so we tailor our sessions to explore real-world challenges in architecture and mechanics. Every week, your child will partner with a friend to build, test and redesign structures, mastering important STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering and math) along the way. After all, learning is so much more engaging when it's a whole lot of fun as well!
The Sylvan Experience
Your local Sylvan centre in Manitoba makes learning personal with classes of no more than 12 students and a maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 6:1. We also blend a variety of collaborative activities with different self-guided tasks, helping kids stay motivated with a range of proven learning techniques.▼
Let's Get Hands-On
We think there's no better way to understand engineering concepts and principles than by using them to solve real-life challenges. That's why our weekly sessions are based around designing and building LEGO® machines and K'NEX® structures. And they don't only build them: they also test them, enter them into friendly competitions and redesign them using the new principles they've learned. Very simply, our goal is to guide and motivate your budding engineer, mechanic or architect — so you shouldn't be surprised when race cars, bridges and other engaging projects become your son or daughter's preferred topic of conversation!
It's time to get creative! Our Engineering courses in Manitoba feature:
- Hands as well as minds: Interactive, app-based learning is great, but this program is all about getting hands-on — and learning by doing.
- Emphasis on STEM: The modern world demands modern skills, so now is the time for your child to develop vital 21st century competencies.
- Teamwork: Students work with buddies, learning how to collaborate and build strong personal communication skills.
- Regular updates: We'll email you after each session with photos, summaries and a sneak peek of next week's project.
