With STEM, innovation and cutting edge achievements are par for the course – and our STEM programs are no different. With Sylvan EDGE in British Columbia, kids get hands-on experience with a range of interesting activities, including designing a video game and programming a working robot to enter in competitions against classmates. You can relax knowing your child is building solid friendships and learning skills relevant for the 21st century along the way!

Included in Sylvan EDGE Programs:

  • Coding: By creating characters, sounds, special effects and animations using innovative Tynker technology, our coding program helps kids develop solid problem solving, logic and computational skills. Your child will learn essential skills for turning their ideas into a real video game he or she can play with friends. You’ll also be able to check out your child’s progress with a link to their weekly project.
  • Robotics & Sciences: In each session, your child will team up with a classmate to build a LEGO® robot, having fun and using real science and engineering concepts along the way. Once it’s done, kids will use LEGO® Education’s award-winning WeDo software to bring the “bot” to life and enter it into competition against other teams.
  • Engineering: Engineers have the ability to change the world—one idea at a time. It’s important to give kids fun experiences with engineering early, so they’ll be inspired to think big later on. Kids will spend time on challenging hands-on activities, such as designing bridges and building simple machines. The theme changes from session to session to keep kids inspired while they experiment with important STEM concepts.
  • Math Edge: Our math skills program, which features a fun, interactive environment that encourages math concepts to stick, is a lot more than repetitive drills. The result? Increased confidence, stronger problem-solving skills and plenty of fun and friendship.
